WWPA Opens 2023 Master Lumberman Nominations
WWPA is now seeking nominations from member companies for the 2023 Master Lumberman honors. The awards will be presented at the Association’s Annual Meeting, April 17, 2023, at the Embassy Suites PDX-Portland Airport Hotel. Master Lumberman is the industry’s highest career achievement recognition for lumber manufacturing and quality control employees working in Western sawmills.
Member companies have until December 31, 2022 to submit Master Lumberman nominations to WWPA. WWPA’s Master Certificate Committee will review nominations and select those individuals who meet the criteria. The award recognizes outstanding lumber grading and quality control professionals who have contributed to their companies and the Western lumber industry. Candidates must be nominated by his or her company, be a WWPA Certified Grader for at least 20 years, have extensive experience in all levels of lumber manufacturing and hold supervisory responsibilities within their company.
Out of the thousands of industry employees working at Western mills, only a select few have achieved Master Lumberman status. Since the program began in 1968, only 433 quality control professionals have received the coveted honor.
For questions, and nominations, contact Pete Austin, WWPA Quality Standards Director, 503-306-3478; [email protected].
