U.S. Housing Starts Show Big Increase
U.S. housing starts in June increased more than 17% over May to an annual rate of 1.186 million, with both single family housing starts (831,000) and multi-family housing starts (350,000) showing big increases, according to the U.S. Census Bureau monthly report.
Housing starts performance in June continues a bounceback from the low of 934,000 starts in April following the onslaught of the pandemic. The June 2020 number is only 4% below June 2019.

Industry Says Goodbye To Walter Jarck
Walter Jarck, whose career in the forest products industry spanned 65 years and ranged from logging machinery to engineered wood products, died January 3, surrounded by his children, in North Wilkesboro, NC. He was 92.
