Robert Jordan, IV Named Timber Processing Magazine 2021 Person Of The Year

Robert Jordan, IV, president and CEO of the Jordan Companies, is the 2021 Timber Processing Person of the Year, 14 years after his father, Bob Jordan, received the annual award, now in its 33rd year. Truly deserving of the award, Jordan, who operates one of largest single site southern yellow pine sawmills in Mt. Gilead, NC, produces 6MMBF of lumber per week. He is the third generation of Jordans to steer the ship in North Carolina, with three sons behind him eager to defy the odds and bring the company into the fourth generation of ownership stronger than ever before. The Jordan family is not only respected throughout the industry for their commitment to continual investment in, and embracing of, new technologies, but also because of a continued investment in the community they call home.

“Contrary to belief sawmillers are some of the great environmentalists. Growing trees clean more air. Managing a forest keeps the fire down. And providing steady jobs with great pay is an honorable thing. I have always been proud of how we do what we do,” Jordan says thinking back on his 30-plus year career that all comes back to the base of 70,000 plus acres of land and timber in North Carolina.

Read more about Jordan, his legacy, and what he thinks about the current lumber market in the January/February edition of Timber Processing.
