Northwest Hardwoods Plans Move Of Head Office To Texas
Major hardwood lumber producer Northwest Hardwoods is relocating its head office from Tacoma, Wash. to Frisco, Tex. CEO Nathan Jeppson states, “This is an important move for our company as we position for long-term growth, and increasingly focus on delivering a world class customer experience.”
The relocation is focused on corporate and functional teams, with commercial teams, resource and lumber buyers and all those who need to be in local markets across the globe unaffected. There will also be no impact on the company’s manufacturing footprint. In the near-term offices in Beachwood, Oh. and Tacoma will remain open.
NWH is the largest U.S. manufacturer of hardwood lumber with a current annual capacity of 320MMBF. Its North America operations include 19 facilities that produce more than 20 species of domestic hardwoods.
The company was founded in 1967 as an alder sawmill, purchased by Weyerhaeuser in 1980, sold to American Industral Partners in 2011, and sold to Littlejohn & Co. in 2014.
Northwest Hardwoods is emerging out of a Chapter 11 bankruptcy restructuring and reports it has substantially reduced its long-term debt obligations. During the restructuring process, the company’s operations continued without interruption.

Carbotech Acquires Sawquip
Carbotech Group has acquired Sawquip, a manufacturing company specializing in the design and manufacture of sawmill equipment for the primary and secondary breakdown of logs into lumber. This acquisition allows Carbotech Group to add on a new field of expertise, providing customers with innovative new solutions for lumber production. Hasslacher Enters North America
Austria-based Hasslacher group is acquiring a stake in Element5, a mass timber producer specializing in the design, manufacture and assembly of modern engineered timber buildings. Based near Toronto, Can., Element5 employs more than 100 and produces cross-laminated timber and glued laminated timber for the North American market.
