Idaho Forest Group is installing new equipment at its sawmill in Nez Perce County that will double the capacity of the facility.
Company President Scott Atkison tells the Lewiston Tribune the company is putting in a saw line that is the largest upgrade since the late 1980s.
The company made the announcement Friday. It says it’s maintaining its staff of 150 employees while the new machinery is put in place.
The company expects to run the first logs through the new equipment in April.
Company officials say they foresee an increase demand for their products due to a rebound in consumer confidence and employment, leading to an increase home building.
